Were you a victim of Julia Yeates?
Julia Yeates is a 28 year old teacher who worked at London Southbank University Academy. Yeates was employed as a humanities teacher at the South London secondary and sixth form school. The school opened as an Academy in 2014 and is part of South Bank Academies.
Yeates has been charged with 9 offences, including abuse of a position of trust by engaging in a sexual activity with a child, one count of sexual communication with a child and one count of sexual activity in the presence of a child aged between 13 and 17. She is due to enter a plea on 18 September 2025 at Inner London Crown Court. The offences relate to school pupils when she was working as a humanities teacher at the academy. One of the offences relates to an accusation she sent nude photos of her naked breasts to a child.
Robsonshaw solicitors have already been approached by victims of Julia Yeates and will be pursuing compensation claims for those affected once the Crown Court proceedings are over. Samantha Robson, who is involved in this case says; “It has been an extremely distressing time for those children affected by this scandal. Some of them are taking GCSE's and it has been a very stressful time, particularly as it appears the criminal proceedings are taking time to proceed. More worryingly it is understood there are potential victims who are yet to come forward”. Sam has specialised in claims against teachers for over 20 years. She has been involved in notorious school claims, including recently convicted David Pickthall at Brentwood School. She has represented countless childhood victims affected by convicted teachers. She comments, “It is not unusual for childhood victims to delay coming forward. For many adolescents, it can be a very daunting task to come forward to the police because of the fear they won't be believed and the shame and embarrassment of being a victim.” Sam has experienced numerous cases where young people were unable to come forward at the time and often delay reporting a crime until adulthood. However, whilst the criminal proceedings are ongoing, it adds strength to the prosecution if victims are able to speak out. The more victims that come forward at the outset, the more unlikely a perpetrator can plead not guilty, thus saving a potentially harrowing Crown Court trial for those involved. Of course, Julia Yeates has not yet entered a plea, or been found guilty, but she has been charged with 9 counts of sexual offences.
If your family member would like to speak to Sam on a confidential, no obligation basis, she plans on attending the next Crown Court hearing on 18th September, or can be contacted on her direct dial (01392) 345331 or emailed at sam@robsonshaw.uk. Sam offers no win no fee arrangements and will provide expert and confidential advice to any victim affected by this scandal.
