Sexual abuse in the police and by public servants
6th Feb 2022
The tragic case of Sarah Everard highlights the failings of a system where warning signs are missed or overlooked. Samantha Robson, specialist solicitor dealing with sexual abuse cases on behalf of victims over the past 20+ years comments, `In the majority of the cases of sexual abuse that I have dealt with, there have always been signs. It is rare to deal with a case where there has been no grooming, or the perpetrator has no history of concerns. We need to consider what more can be done to stop these individuals before they commit offences. Do we have sufficient systems of recording concerns which can be cross - referenced by other authorities involved?'
